The star of controversial TV show Benefits Street has announced she will run for MP at the 2015 election.
After being described by a Tory MP as “not a particularly good role model”, single mum Deirdre Kelly, better known to viewers as White Dee, says she will stand as an independent candidate for the Birmingham Ladywood seat.
While her chances of unseating Labour MP Shabana Mahmood seem slim, her plan to run is not as wacky as it sounds.
After all, stranger election candidates than she have tried their luck at the polls.
